The Art of Recitation

“and recite the quran (with) measured rhythmic recitation.” 73:4

We’ve just come out of Ramadan where we were reading and listening to the Quran on a regular basis. We can all appreciate the Quran when it’s read in a measured rhythmic way. We sometimes even wish we could recite like some of the well-known Quran reciters. Maybe we can’t all be the next great Qari, however, all of us irrespective of our level can improve our recitation.

“Read the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim)

Even if we find reciting difficult, by learning the rules pertaining to Quran recitation (tajweed) alongside continuous effort with a teacher, everyone’s recitation can become enhanced.

“The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards.” (Bukhari)

In this short course we will cover the main rules of Quran recitation, every Muslim should be aware of. The course is designed for beginner to intermediate level, it’s not suited for advanced students of tajweed.

The course will focus on the correct pronunciation of Arabic letters, rules of elongation, proper articulation points, and more. In addition every student will be offered the opportunity to have their recitation of surah al faitha corrected and given advice on where they need to focus to improve their recitation going forward.

Join iSyllabus for this short online course on Tajweed rules with an added live Q&A Zoom Session.
